My mom gave me the last of her wedding china a few years ago, and there were only a few pieces left. Rather than have them sit in the cabinet or risk getting damaged by further use, I thought of a better solution.

I bought a worn, beautiful old piece of wood (complete with saw marks) from Old House Depot in Jackson, grabbed a few plate holders from Lowe’s, attached the plates to the board, and voila! The perfect piece for the oddly long, horizontal space above the kitchen sink. Be creative with your heirlooms; don’t hide them away. You’ll smile every time you look at it.
